Skills Meet up!
November 2nd at 4 PM PT/7 PM ET
Hello WOCAN Allies! We are gathering for our WOCAN Ally meet up on November 2, 2022! Thank YOU all for your patience! We’ve begun to examine our privilege and power together and our last meet up was filled with some really authentic and intentional conversations. We are excited to keep the learning going! I really believe that together we can create some positive change for our industry and the world at large.
We are coming together again to connect, brainstorm, and learn how we can collectively support WOCAN’s mission & vision as ally members. You can expect to:
Build valuable connections with other allies
Gain valuable insights and skills on how to be a better ally
Share your ideas to help our Ally Program elevate WOCAN
We will do a little review of the Power and Privilege worksheet and discuss Ally Skills. You can download the worksheet to review here: Copy of Identifying your power and privilege - Letter
Then you’ll be placed in small groups where you will have the opportunity to work through a couple scenarios together and brainstorm how you could ACT as an Ally in similar situations. These kinds of exercises really help me. Sometimes I FREEZE instead of ACT when I’m faced with a situation where I could have done or said something! Then I’m beating myself up later! Sometimes taking action LATER (particularly in work situations) is a good idea. But what kind of actions can we take? Practicing and brainstorming ways to develop Ally Skills really helps me and so I want to share this with all of you.
